With the SUV market booming in India, several major automakers like Hyundai, Mahindra, Maruti Suzuki, and Tata Motors are lining up a series of exciting launches in the coming months. If you're planning to buy an SUV right now — especially models like the Hyundai Creta — you might want to hold off just a little longer. As the festive season approaches, many brands are preparing to roll out new-generation models, facelifts, and electric variants that could offer better features and value for money.

1. New-Gen Mahindra Bolero

The iconic Mahindra Bolero is getting a ground-up overhaul. Recently spotted in its near-final production avatar, the new-generation Bolero is expected to bring a bold new design inspired by premium SUVs like the G-Wagon and Land Rover Defender.

Known for its rugged build and popularity in Tier-2 and rural markets, the updated Bolero is likely to retain its utilitarian DNA while adding a modern, muscular design and improved interiors. The launch is expected within this fiscal year.

2. Maruti Suzuki Escudo (Upcoming 5-Seater SUV)

Maruti Suzuki is preparing to launch a brand-new 5-seater SUV that may be named the Escudo. Positioned between the Vitara Brezza and the Grand Vitara, the Escudo is aimed at buyers looking for a premium SUV experience at a more affordable price.

This upcoming SUV will likely compete with the Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos, and could be powered by a 1.5L four-cylinder petrol engine with hybrid enhancements.

3. Kia Seltos Facelift & Hyundai Venue Facelift

Kia and Hyundai are planning mid-cycle updates for two of their best-selling models:

  • Kia Seltos Facelift: Recently spotted testing in India and Korea, the facelifted Seltos is expected to receive exterior upgrades, hybrid powertrain options, and a feature-packed cabin.
  • Hyundai Venue Facelift: Inspired by the Hyundai Alcazar's design language, the updated Venue will feature a refreshed front fascia and additional equipment. Launch is expected by October 2025.

4. Tata Sierra EV (and ICE Version)

Tata Motors is nearly ready to reintroduce its legendary Sierra nameplate in a modern avatar. The upcoming Tata Sierra EV is in the final stages of testing and will follow shortly after the launch of the Tata Harrier EV.

In addition, a petrol/diesel (ICE) version of the Sierra has also been spotted undergoing test runs, with both variants expected to offer a futuristic design, modern interiors, and electric powertrains aimed at urban SUV buyers.

5. Kia Clavis EV

After the launch of the ICE-powered Kia Clavis, Kia is now gearing up for the Clavis EV, which will include design changes like a closed-off front grille, along with a fully electric powertrain. The Clavis EV is rumored to offer a driving range of up to 460 km and will cater to eco-conscious buyers looking for a compact SUV with bold styling.

Why You Should Wait

With so many exciting SUV launches lined up — both electric and ICE — holding off your purchase for a few months could open up better, more feature-rich options. Whether you're looking for a compact SUV, a luxury MPV, or a next-gen electric vehicle, waiting until the festive season could give you access to the latest tech, modern styling, and better value.
